America's homeless population is on the rise, says Blake Ellis. With the rise of homeless people also comes the struggle for shelter. A home is a human basic need which some people are deprived of. So what happens when so many people go without this basic need? Tent cities.
Tent cities, a growing community across the country. They are communities of people without homes coming together to form tent neighborhoods. Blake Ellis states some of these cities have mayors who decide who can stay and who can go, and even control what goes on. If the mayor wants a drug free city, it will be done. If the mayor thinks somebody is unfit to be in the community, it will be dealt with. So who is to say whether these places are good or bad? The real issue is that we have so much homeless people that they no longer can depend on the government to provide a safe environment. A sad truth, we are on our own in this world. But the truth is we are social creatures, so the family atmosphere is there. I say if these communities help out in some way, whose to say we should stop people from being happy?

"Using Food Stamps On Beer and Condoms?" Author: Senator Tom Coburn
Food stamps are given to families at need or families with low income, but are they being used properly? I remember growing up my family used food stamps just to get groceries for the month. It doesn't seem right to use the food stamps wrongfully knowing that people are actually hungry and in need of a bite to eat. Eligible food items for food stamp include: breads, cereals, fruits and vegetables, meats, fish, poultry, and dairy products. Using them any other way is just taking advantage of the little help the government is giving you.
Senator Tom Coburn writes about people using food stamps for pretty much anything from Taco bell, bathroom luxuries, alcohol, and even condoms. If you are buying condoms with food stamps, you should find a different hustle. The government is giving people free food, why wouldn't you buy food to feed your family? Or your kids? I'm not opposed to people buying alcohol or condoms, but the least you can do is buy them with your own money. Not money that could be spent on a child in need. People wrongfully using food stamps is what has the government convinced that nobody should be receiving help. Wrongful users give rightful users a bad name. Government spending money on those wrongful users is a waste of government funds. The senator also talks about people getting more benefits simply because they smoke marijuana. I am not oppose smoking marijuana in any way shape or form, but I know people who smoke marijuana and work hard on there own to support there family. And they support well. Smoking marijuana doesn't give you the right to take someone else's food away. Neither does being lazy and expecting the government to pay for your own wants.

"Teens, Why you broke?" Author of Article: Annalyn Kurtz
Can't find a job? It might not be because of your lack of work skills. Or your criminal record this time. Everyone knows finding a job is one of the hardest tasks that life will present, but finding a occupation in today's job market nowadays is a whole different mission. There's people everyday struggling just to get a break, and get nothing on a daily basis. Whether you believe it or not, this is especially tough for the youth in the U.S.... Is America not the land of opportunity?
We hit the lowest rate on record. In 2000 45% of teens ages 16 - 19 had a job. A big difference from 2011, which was a desperate cry for help. With only 26% of teens getting hired, the opportunity to learn skills in a work environment is almost non existent. This economy will create a generation of unskilled people in basic common sense principles. Businesses do not want a worker without any experience, but how will they ever get the chance to be experienced if no one gives them their first opportunity.
Teenagers need to go through their first job experience in order to be functioning members of society. Learn to get money on your own, before someone else beats you to the position.

Is your city Unequal? By andres munoz
The division of money is evident in different cities. Rich people sit comfortably at the top while the rest of us, well, we just watch. CNN made a list of the most unequal cities in America. It's determined by how rich the rich are and how poor the poor are in a city. This sort of money gap in a city population can cause very high crime rates.
Atlanta, Georgia made the top of the list. With the high average income at $279,827, and the low average income at $14,850, the poor do not stand a chance. The article later explains that it is not that Atlanta has the richest rich people, it is that it has the poorest of the poor. Is it just a coincidence that they have such a high crime rate? Second on the list was San Francisco, California. It has a low of $21,313 and a high of $353,576. Another factor to take into consideration is the size of the city's population. San Francisco's population is much larger than Atlanta's, allowing more room for the middle class to be present.
CNN also provides another list, America's most equal cities. To my surprise two of our neighbors were featured on this list. Number four on this list was Fort Worth with a low of 20,992 and a high of 168,989. Arlington came at number nine with a low of $24,169 and a high of 175,759. Dallas was no where to be found, lost in the middle class somewhere I suppose.
In my opinion this is one of the biggest problems in our economy and society. By giving the rich more and the poor less we limit our own people. A largely populated and unequal city will have the best and worst of the worst neighborhoods, simply because the most crime tends to happen in the poorest areas. If we fix this economic issue it could help in solving a series of other problems.
